Today I want to share the system that I use to store the die cuts that are leftover when I am crafting with my Silhouette.
In order to use my scrapbook paper efficiently I will often cut more shapes than necessary if they are something that I can use for another project in the future.
Here is my solution for keeping my extra die cuts and scraps organized:
These cases can be purchased at Michael’s for around $3.00 each, but, if you live in Canada, you can find them for $1.00 in the frames section of Dollarama!
My photo cases are then stored inside another container that I repurposed. A few years ago I found this container on clearance at Lowe’s after Christmas so I bought two thinking they would be good for holding receipts, stickers etc.
My Office/Craft Room is bright blue. The red lid was ugly and clashed with everything. So, what did I do? Spray paint of course!
Much better!
It was a happy discovery that twelve photo cases fit perfectly into the container.
The cases are designed to hold 4 x 6 photos which means they can store my smaller card bases as well as the die cuts that I use to embellish them (if I am making a set).
So now, when I want to make another adorable owl card (did you see the eyes looking at you in the storage case picture?), I have all the pieces ready to go in one place.
If you don’t have a die cut machine, these are still a great solution for storing other small items.
I also use them to hold smaller paint chips (what a surprise!), stickers, I turned one into a pencil case for supply teaching and they would also make a great mini-First Aid or sewing kit.
Photo storage cases . . . the possibilities are endless!
Thanks for reading!
THanks for your sweet comments!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun projects you've done! I love all your silhouette projects!
Hi Claire! You lucky girl to have all those die-cuts! Great storage idea! Love your paint chip projects too! You are one creative chick! Angie xo
ReplyDeleteThis is a great storage idea. I have a large set of these photo boxes I bought at Costco, and they are so versatile. I have one holding all my Silhouette sketch pens, one holding all my Chomas Creations sketch pens, one holding all my mini glue sticks, and one holding my son's Cub Scout patches and pins I never got around to attaching to his shirt. :D Sounds like I need to fill the rest with card pieces and Silhouette unassigned cut-outs!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for such a fabulous idea. I had some more extra parts left over today and thought where am I going to put these now?
ReplyDeleteI will keep my eyes open for these boxes.
What a great idea! I've been trying to figure out how to store all my fiddley bits, and I think some of the dollar stores here in the US has those photo boxes... I'll have to check!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for your comment on my paint chip earrings! It seems like you have the same (un)healthy obsession with paint chips, and I've already pinned several of your projects :-)
